Eucharist
1st Holy Communion for children takes place in mid to late May (depending on when Easter is that year).
Parents are the primary teachers of the faith, therefore, are responsible for preparing their children for the Sacraments. The Catholic Church understands that this task can be difficult, so it provides a purpose driven curriculum to assist families in their children’s faith formation.
The Eucharist is a share in the heavenly banquet. The First Mass was celebrated by Christ at the Last Supper; the Institution of the Eucharist. Each Mass is a remembering of the Last Supper. During the Sacrifice of the Mass the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ. "I am the Living Bread come down from heaven."
This is our greatest and highest Sacrament. The word "Eucharist" means "thanksgiving".
